    third set of news!

    1) 73 per cent of students who sat for the 'N' levels are eligible for Secondary 5 next year. The top student was Chinese national Chengkai of Yio Chu Kang Secondary School. Chengkai moved to Singapore from Shanghai in 2006 knowing very little English. But all that was behind the young man who mastered the language well enough to ace the 'N' Level exams with an aggregate of six. Also achieving an aggregate of seven were two top Malay students, Safiah Yahya and Muhammad Ihsan Salimi. Top Indian students, Pillay Aaron Ashley, Muhammad Aziz Firdaus and Sangareewari Silvam all had an aggregate of eight. This is the second year that they can skip the 'O' Level exams and start their ITE courses a year earlier. Bukit Panjang Government High School produced the top two students who sat for the Normal tech exam. Lim Shi Hui and Nurul Farhana Winarto Utomo both scored seven As. Their secret of success was simply hard work.

    Opinions :
Through the experience of these people, we can see that through hard work, we can scale greater heights! What's more, it is said that Chengkai managed to master English by watching Channel news asia and watching the programmes from Channel 5 often, which is vaguely what we are doing now! Encouragement from people around Chengkai is also behind his great score. Chengkai received much encouragement to speak English in front of his friends, and with their help, Chengkai improved. This also shows us that friends too are important in the academics to stand by your side and cheer you on as you work hard to improve! Chengkai is very lucky to have those kind of friends!

    2) AVA has lifted the suspension on the import of milk and milk products from China.
AVA said that it is satisfied with the control measures in place to ensure that milk and milk products imported from China are not contaminated with melamine. Products produced by approved establishments on or after December 18 will be allowed into Singapore. AVA said it will continue to monitor the products imported into Singapore to ensure that they are safe for consumption.

    Opinions :
Finally, the dairy products scare seems to be fading away as China milk products are now approved for consumption! Although AVA results show that no melamine have been used anymore, I'm still afraid that after AVA stops monitoring the products, China would start using melamine again. I hope that AVA would think of something so that China would never export melamine contaminated products again. I would suggest that they should monitor the products once a month to make sure that China is still faithful is exporting melamine-free products.

my second set of news are here~!
these pieces of news are for last week.
i was on holiday last week so posting these news late(:
    okay!
    here are they!

    1) Three people were killed and one remained missing after a US fighter jet crashed into a largely populated neighbourhood in California on Monday. The fateful incident occured shortly after mid-day, when the jet spiralled out of control and crashed into two homes. The pilot of the jet wa doing some training excercises and when the aircraft crashed, the pilot ejected safely and landed in the grounds of a school. The exact cause of the crash was not known but it is said that it had been a mechanical problem which caused it.

    Opinions :
This accident has got me thinking - Why don't the jets do their training excercises at the sky above spare land such that if the jets crashed, it won't hurt anyone else? I think having jet training excercises on top of everybody else in the country is really life-threatening to the people. What's more, the pilots should also do a thorough check for the jets before lift off such that mechanical problems rarely occur. Although this crash only killed a few people, those people have lives and I think the pilot should not have been so careless.

    2) A special monster size giftbox measuring four metres wide and four metres tall has given much joy to 485 underprivileged children in this festive season. It is part of a Christmas party by organization CityCare to help disadvantaged children in Singapore. This large giftbox has set the record of being the largest giftbox in Singapore.

    Opinions :
Wow! CityCare has gone this far to help out, at the right time too! Helping out by giving underprivileged presents during the festive season is a meaningful thing to do for these disadvantaged children, as most of these children are unable to celebrate this joyful event. Giving the children a taste of what celebrating Christmas is like definitely brightens this children up!!

my first set of news are finally here ^^

    1) To mark World AIDS day today, World Vision Singapore is contributing by launching the 'One Life Fund', which will pay for the education of every child aged between 2 & 25 affected or infected by HIV/AIDS as long as they meet they criteria.

    Opinions:
I think it is really generous for them to give these HIV infected or affected children a chance to get sufficient education. The criteria in order for these poor children to be able to take part in this fund is both very general and very generous, the way so that it might benefit all HIV/AIDS infected and affected children greatly. The youths who are concerned about their education can now worry no more, whether infected or affected with AIDS, now with this golden oppurtunity. Now, they will be able to avail themselves of this bursary.

    2) Bus commuters can now look forward to quicker rides now that the 'Mandatory Give Way to Buses' scheme is implemented. It is so that when buses are leaving the bay, cars will give way, as it has been said that buses take about 5 to 10 seconds in leaving the bus bay. Offenders will be subjected to a $130 fine.

    Opinions:
I think that the scheme is very useful and effective as this will be a new traffic rule for those who drive. The launching of this scheme shows that LTA has given great thought for public transport commuters. Buses will now be shown more respect from other cars and if they don't show respect, they will be fined too! This scheme will complement and enhance the effectiveness of bus priority. The commuters will also feel more comfortable with public transport as they have been given such priority. Now I can also enjoy quicker bus rides from one place to the other once his scheme is launched!
